B5S2 - Listening 2

Robert: Hi, Luke! Where are you going?

Luke: Hello! I’m going to the animal shelter. Would you like to go with me?

Robert: Sure! Are you volunteering?

Luke: No, not yet. I’m going to adopt a pet, and I have an appointment to fill out some papers. But I think I’ll volunteer next month.

Robert: No kidding! That’s great! I wish I could adopt a pet, but my house is too small.

Luke: You could adopt a small dog or a cat. There are a lot of furry friends waiting for a family to love them.

Robert: That’s true. Are you adopting a cat or a dog?

Luke: I’m adopting a two-year old dog. It’s small and brown. Its name’s Milo.

Robert: And, are you picking him up today?

Luke: No; the process takes a couple of weeks. First, they ask you to visit the dog, for it to get used to your presence. Would you like to meet Milo?

Robert: Of course! I could also see if there’s a small cat waiting to be adopted. I don’t think my mom would say "no" to me.

Luke: Excellent! I’ll tell you about the documents that you’re required to fill out. Keep your ID, some information about your family, and your address on hand. Plus, lots of love for your new friend.

Robert: Yes! I hope I can own a pet. But I know it takes a lot of responsibility.

Luke: Very well! Let’s go to the shelter.

Robert: Yeah, let’s go!
